Metamortis

As a child, Kogan Locke receives a journal from his mother, a psychiatric patient of Pandora Institute who believes it can predict the future. She also believes faeries live in her walls.  

When she dies tragically, Kogan dismisses the journal as another of her delusions. 

Twenty-five years later, Kogan is an isolated, risk-averse insurance adjuster sent to inspect the abandoned hospital where she died. 

There, the journal begins offering glimpses of his future, and Kogan inadvertently follows its guidance into an alternate timeline where he owns the building and has reopened it as the Pandora Apartments. 

Desperate to get home while concealing the disturbing changes the crossing has awakened inside his body, Kogan investigates the building and clashes with Cerberus, a security organization hiding its supernatural associations. 

Cerberus’s guileless, intrusive, and profoundly annoying new recruit, Oliver Penn, appears to be exactly the kind of human variable Kogan avoids, but as they work together, Oliver reveals unexpected depths and becomes proof that sometimes trust is a risk worth taking.
